How to Make Trump’s Gaza Plan Work

It’s easier than it seems

Many seem convinced that Trump’s Gaza plan is crazy. I disagree. This article will describe how it could work.

Step One: The hostage ceasefire deal

My previous article condemned Trump’s ceasefire deal. I’ve now softened my position. I still think trading for hostages encourages more hostage-taking, but this particular deal has something to contribute. Getting the hostages back means the IDF won’t have to worry about them as it proceeds to…

Step Two: Destroy Hamas

To destroy Hamas the IDF will have to kill or capture every male Hamas fighter. Thus, those released as part of the hostage deal won’t be free or alive for long. This will ameliorate the risk of future hostage-taking.

Step Three: Delay reconstruction in Gaza

Trump has already eliminated funding for UNRWA and aid to the Palestinians. This raises the question of who will pay to rebuild Gaza and when the construction will begin.

I predict that Trump will pressure Israel, the UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia to delay providing funds for reconstruction. And the IDF can prevent any such funds from being used should they arrive.

This means the Gazans will be kept living in tents on scant rations, with more neighbors arriving daily as the IDF continues to eliminate Hamas.

These conditions will create a huge incentive for Gazans to accept any plan that improves their living conditions. It’s one thing to become a martyr in a blaze of glory, and quite another to achieve martyrdom through poverty and discomfort. A blaze of glory leaves little time for regrets while grinding misery is nothing but regrets.

By the way, if you don’t think the Gazans deserve this kind of treatment please read my article Palestinian Public Opinion is Horrifying. The truth is that a large portion of the Gazan population should probably be imprisoned as co-conspirators in the crimes of rape, murder, and torture. They are the most toxic population on Earth.

Step Four: Bribe the Egyptians to take the Gazans

When Trump froze all foreign aid he exempted only Egypt and Lebanon. I suspect he had his Gaza idea in mind when he did this.

The Egyptians are right to oppose having more Palestinians in their country. All the Islamic countries know the Palestinians are toxic. Plus, the Egyptian people got their fill of Islamic extremism when the Muslim Brotherhood ruled them following the so-called Arab Spring. But…

Everything has a price. Trump can use carrots and sticks to bribe the Egyptians to take the Palestinians. He can make it worth the risk. And now that the Egyptian government is moving its Capitol out of Cairo it will soon be less vulnerable to the mob.

One hundred and thirteen million Egyptians should be able to absorb and tolerate two million Gazans. I do predict, however, that a great many Palestinian radicals will end up in Egyptian prisons for failing to give up jihad.

Jordan is a different story. Jordan is unstable. Radical Palestinian militants constantly threaten to topple the government. So Jordan should be left out of the deal. An exception might be made for the roughly twenty-five percent of Gazans who seem to disapprove of the Hamas Death Cult. That assumes that Jordanian vetters could accurately identify these reasonable people amid all the crazies.

To ameliorate the Arab street, Gazans should be given passports to return after Gaza is rebuilt. This assumes they will be able to afford the new and improved neighborhood. Trumpian gentrification could help to keep out the radicalized rif-raf.

Step Five: Transport the Gazans to Egypt

The mind boggles at the thought of moving 2 million Gazans to new homes. But the tiny country of Kuwait deported over 300,000 of its trouble-making Palestinians in 1991, and the world hardly noticed. It can be done.

Plus, there are already indications that lots of Gazans like Trump’s plan. Some of them are shouting the slogan, “Make Gaza Great Again!”

Things would go easier if Trump could persuade Congress to fund the building or buying of nice new homes for the Gazans in Egypt. He could make a strong pitch. We get to foster peace in the Middle East, we get a great asset in Gaza that we can develop to return the money we spend, and we can reduce aid to Israel when they no longer face threats from Gaza. I bet he could get Congress to take that deal.

Step Six: Claim title to Gaza

The United Nations would cry foul and then Trump would promptly withdraw from that organization, remove its funding, and seize its property on the Hudson River. Now the U.S. would have some additional assets to compensate U.S. taxpayers for any sums spent so far — valuable real estate in Manhattan and an oceanfront proto-paradise in Gaza.

Step seven: Clear the land and make development deals

This is where the U.S. taxpayer would get his/her money back. Plus, Trump could reduce military aid to Israel given the removed security threat in Gaza.

What do you think? Do you want to make a deal?
