I’ve recently changed my mind about both the afterlife and reincarnation. I’ve gone from being a skeptic to a believer (though I still think earthly religions tell us more about human psychology than they do about divine reality). Your mileage will surely vary. My religious readers will condemn me for arrogance while my skeptical readers will slap me for excess credulity. So be it. My purpose here is to share more than persuade, so here’s how I reached my current opinions…

Reincarnation

This documentary persuaded me that the evidence for reincarnation is actually very strong. These books then drove home the point in a powerful way…

It’s a simple fact — some children have memories of past lives that are neither conjured by hypnotic suggestions nor constructed out of information overheard from other sources. Most importantly, these memories make claims about past people and events that can be researched and confirmed. From there it made sense to also investigate…

Near Death Experiences

I found the book After by Dr. Bruce Greyson to be very persuasive, while the skeptical counterclaims seem weak. This left me with a choice — I could either stick to my disbelief in an afterlife as a skeptical article of faith, or I could go where the evidence took me. The latter approach was the only one consistent with critical thinking, not to mention integrity, so I changed my mind!

I now think there is both a before-life and an afterlife, and probably a God too, though I continue to reject all human religions (that’s a subject for another day).

I will be writing a lot more about these matters in future articles. I have many thoughts and observations about NDEs and reincarnation that I have not seen made by anyone else. If you want to evaluate those future offerings I hope you’ll SUBSCRIBE. But one issue interests me more than my own past and future lives…

Will I get to see my dogs in the afterlife?

This is a subject of great concern to me. I think dogs are the greatest creatures on planet Earth. They deserve an afterlife much more than most humans. And the thought of my having eternal life without ever again seeing my doggie friends is terribly painful. So I plan to research the doggie afterlife question. Do dogs appear in near-death experiences? I already have four sources of potential information to consider, and I will be telling you what I learn in future articles. Please SUBSCRIBE if this subject interests you.
